Make the Most of your #otherhours

I often get asked: “Do you still have a job?” “Do you ever sit still?” “Where are you going next?”

I do have a profession that affords me an awesome lifestyle. I spent many years grinding to get to this point. I have put in late nights and put up with many stressful situations. I live life fast and a plan to experience as much as possible in my short physical existence on this planet. While some people are confused how I get so much done, I feel that it’s not even close to what I need to and can do.

Cam Hanes came on my radar a few weeks back and has gotten me pumped up to “Keep Hammering”. This dude has a full time desk job, is a involved father, has a popular TV show, trains harder than anyone I know and spends a ton of time in the woods. This dude is for sure my recent man crush and has gotten me motivated to train harder and focus more on doing what I love.

This is a recent edit from Jeff Brines that inspired me to write this post. “Work. Its a fact of life. This is a tribute to those hours outside of work and the day to day business of life. A tribute to the ‘other hours’.” Jeff works a typical 9-7 desk job and still spent “140-plus days on skis, 160-plus days on a bike, many days on the river, and countless gallons of coffee.

Work. Its a fact of life. This is a tribute to those hours outside of work and the day to day business of life. A tribute to the "other hours". Jeff Brines shot this over the last year in his free time away from the 9-7 grind as a financial analyst and co-running Earlyups. 100% of this was shot on GoPro. The drone is a DJI Phantom 2 with gimbal. Editing was done in Premier Pro, color in SpeedGrade. The numbers are as follows - Over the year Jeff skied ~140 days and rode his bike 160+. Snowfall shredded north of 500". Human powered vertical ascended (and descended) was close to the 1 million mark (bike and ski combined). After all that, the high five count was eclipsing 1,000 by even the most conservative estimates. Isn't this the most important metric of anyone's life? We think so... We'll do our best to make more of these as time goes on! Places - Jackson, WY - Kicking Horse, BC - Fairy Meadow, BC - Santa Cruz, BC People - Tom Runcie (skier under drone), Tucker The Dog, My High Fivin' Friends Insta JJ_0909 and throw up the hashtag #otherhours on the gram so I too can get stoked on other people's stuff!

None of us have Trust Funds or can quit it all to become a Vagabond but we can maximize the hours we do have. Make the most of your Other Hours.
